This message was preached by Ps Suresh on the 16th March.
Semester 3, was to me, a typhoon. Semester 4 would be a greater hurdle to cross. Semester 4 would be a tsunami. We're growing up too fast, too furious. At the end of this year, we'll be done with Semester 5, and soon be on our way to the second part of our course. Semester 4 is a make or break period of time, the turning point in our lives, especially for those who are going to partner medical universities.
Wind after wind blows in opposite directions against where we're heading to. What purpose are these adversities? Isn't the world a better place problem free? I was watching the F1 Sepang Grand Prix and the answer suddenly popped. A F1 racecar reaches top speed quicker, and its acceleration enhanced with the blowing of the wind. But it does not end there, each car has its specifically designed shell. The better the aerodynamics the car possesses, the faster speed it can travel at. This is what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong.
The analogy is simple. We have winds of adversity blowing at us at every direction, except from the direction that propels us forward. But we must remember to walk in a straight line, the straight line being the direction that God wants us to walk on. We must not be swayed, we must not stray. Whatever the circumstance, we have to remember that a life's journey is towards God. Focus on the goal, do not focus on the adversities. Our aerodynamics against the winds of adversities lie on the firmness we've set our foundation on the word of God. Adversities mould us and shape us, rather than hindering us from reaching our targets.
How do we improve our aerodynamics? The answer is simple- daily prayer time. "The foundation that can never be shaken is in Jesus". Anything that can be shaken will be shaken.
Ps Suresh gave an interesting analogy- When climbling a mountain, the trail is narrow and made difficult with rocks and stones. The climber can look at it from 2 perspectives- the stones as hindrances or as stepping stones.
Bible verses were taken from Mark 6 and Mark 9.
